About Us
Age Irrelevance is the principle that age should not determine opportunities, participation, or value in society, workplaces, or policy.
We’re a social and policy movement that challenges traditional age-based assumptions. Advances in health, technology, and longevity mean people are not ageing at the same rate as previous generations. Chronological age alone is an insufficient measure of capability or potential.
We encourage organisations and governments to design strategies that support people throughout their entire life course, rather than adhering to outdated models like "educate, work, retire".

Meet the Team
Our structure
Age Irrelevance exists to reshape how society, business, and government respond to the realities of longer lives and extended working careers. Our mission is simple but urgent: to make age irrelevant to opportunity, contribution, and economic participation.
We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, structured as a company limited by guarantee with a voluntary Asset Lock. As a social enterprise, we reinvest every penny into high-impact campaigns, strategic partnerships, and evidence-led policy work that unlock the potential of our ageing population. We bring together employers, policymakers, and innovators to build a future where a 100-year life isn’t a burden - it’s a national asset.
We use an ‘Asset Lock’ as a legal mechanism to ensure that any assets are used for the benefit of our wider social purpose rather than for private gain. It prevents the distribution of assets to members upon dissolution or winding up, instead directing them towards another asset-locked body or for community purposes.
We operate with the drive of a business, the purpose of a movement, and the independence of a non-profit.
Our goal? To make age irrelevant - socially, economically, and culturally.
We’re not about ageing gracefully - we’re about ageing powerfully, with purpose and productivity.
Join us in changing the narrative, closing the age gap, and driving inclusive economic growth.
Continuing the legacy of Sally Greengross
Two days before Baroness Sally Greengross OBE passed away she was writing to the Prime Minister. Always campaigning, always foresighted and truly inclusive in her thinking. Age Irrelevance was Sally's vision she wanted to see carried through.
Sally's daughters, Claire and Gail, supported the creation of the campaign through the foundation of a not for profit, social enterprise.
Sally's vision is now their mission.
