Karen Lewis
Non-executive director and consultant
Karen has a wide-ranging professional background across lifelong learning, creative
industries and community engagement. She has demonstrable expertise in and
commitment to digital inclusion, having led Welsh Government’s digital inclusion
programmes for many years. Currently, she balances Non-Executive Director (NED)
positions with freelance consultancy work, bringing informed insight to governance
and strategic development.
Karen currently sits on the Board of Llais—The Citizen Voice Body for Health and
Social Care (Wales)—and serves as a Non-Executive Member of the Wales
Committee of the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Her previous NED roles include her service on Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for
Wales and as the Member for Wales on the UK Communications Consumer Panel
and Committee for Older and Disabled People. Additionally, she has chaired Digital
Leaders for Wales, further cementing her commitment to advancing digital inclusion.
Throughout her career, Karen has held senior roles within Higher Education, the
BBC, and the third sector, cultivating a broad network of cross-sector professional
relationships.
Karen lives in Cardiff, where, alongside her professional work, she is an active
grandparent to her three young grandchildren. A constant reminder of the irrelevance
of age!
My pledge
To honour the work that Sally dedicated her life to and to play my small part in
making age irrelevant in all areas of our lives. I will reach out across my networks,
spread the word and encourage action.
